Watmore has joined Boro on a short-term contract until January after being released by Sunderland in the summer.
The 26-year-old, who has suffered several injury setbacks during his career, has been following his own training programme over the last few months and is delighted his hard work is paying off.

“I’ve worked really, really hard on my fitness and obviously have come through a lot with my injuries and knees and everything so I feel like my body is in a really good place now.
“All the work is paying off for moments like this so I’m really happy.”
Watmore’s first goal took a deflection off Swansea defender Marc Guehi while his second was assisted by an excellent pass from Paddy McNair.

“The first one I just saw some space open up and got a bit lucky with the deflection. The second one was a brilliant ball by Paddy and I just saw the gap and finished.
“The main thing is we won the game, I know it’s a cliche. At the end it got a bit nervy, we conceded but the boys did unbelievably well.”
Watmore already knew a few of the players at Boro, including former England youth team-mate Chuba Akpom and McNair.

“The lads have been superb today as they have been all season and the manager has been so good with me, taking a chance with me, and I’m really grateful for that.”
