LETTER: It’s been a privilege

AS we move into 2015, it is hard to believe that I am already more than halfway through my year as chairman, and what a privilege it has been so far.

I have attended all kinds of community events and it has been an honour to meet so many people who do remarkable things for others.

I have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown to my wife and consort, Maxine, and I.

We are looking forward to meeting many more inspirational individuals and organisations during the rest of my term as chairman.

For my New Year’s resolution I will endeavour to raise as much money as possible for the chairman’s charities, the Great North Air Ambulance and Butterwick Hospice.

I would like to thank everyone who have given us such a warm reception and express our gratitude to everybody who has donated to these charities.

I also hope that 2015 brings health and happiness to the people of County Durham.

Furthermore, as the New Year approaches, I ask you to think about those who are unwell, who have been bereaved, the elderly, the vulnerable and those who feel lonely, to be a good neighbour.

I hope those serving our country abroad come back home safe.

To you and your loved ones I send my sincere best wishes for a healthy and prosperous New Year.

John Robinson, JP,

Chairman,

Durham County Council

County Hall,

Durham.
