POLICE are still waiting to speak to the man who suffered horrific burns after being set alight on his doorstep.
Michael Webb, 38, remains in a critical condition after being doused in petrol and set on fire at his home in Annandale Crescent, Hartlepool, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Detectives are treating the attack as attempted murder.

A team of 22 officers, led by Detective Superintendent Gordon Lang, are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Mr Webb was left with 40 per cent burns and is still critical at the Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Our main priority is to get him fit and well again while inquiries are ongoing on the ground.

"We haven't been able to speak to him yet. The medical procedures need to be carried out but we are keen to do so as soon as we are advised that it will be possible."

Officers are keen to trace two men and two women seen arguing with the victim around 10.30pm on Monday.

Anyone with information should contact police on (01642) 302126 or Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555 111.
