Middlesbrough produced a much-improved performance as Neil Warnock’s side recorded a 3-0 win over Millwall at the Riverside – and fans were quick to react on social media.

All three goals came inside the opening 20 minutes as Duncan Watmore scored twice either side of a Marcus Tavernier strike.

There was plenty of praise for Watmore who has now scored four goals in six appearances since his move to Teesside and will be offered a contract extension at Boro.

Paddy McNair, who captained the side, Dael Fry and Marvin Johnson also impressed.

Here’s how some fans reacted:

@LewisThompson7: After only 1 win in 4 and no clean sheets in that time, excellent to get back to winning ways, with a clean sheet and goals. Movement going forward of Johnson, Watmore and Tav made a huge difference and much more creativity, and rock solid at the back, Fry and McNair some pairing

@Smithy_MFC84: That’s how you bounce back from a poor performance. Can’t ask for much more than three goals and a clean sheet. Great to see Watmore grab another brace as well, the way he’s slotted in seamlessly has been mightily impressive.

@SuperMc123: Great team performance. McNair is clearly captain material and should take us forward.

@daveyballyXIIII: Good win for the Boro, now we need to show a little consistency in the coming games to keep us around the playoffs.

@CJAtenpin: Gotta be happy with both the result & performance but 3-0 up within 20 minutes, disappointed Boro couldn't break their 5 year hoodoo of not scoring four or more in a league match. Now bring on Luton Town

@BenHatfield19: Announce Watmore’s 3 year deal

@smoggyontour86: Paddy McNair what signing this lad is, we’ll do well to keep hold of him in summer.

@We_are_Boro: Much more threatening with Watmore in the side. If we can keep him there as much as possible then we’ll have more positive results. We need Fletcher back though, we need a striker who is going to contribute goals.
